Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am a community based midwife who offers care to women in the Hutt Valley region throughout pregnancy, labour and birth as well as providing postnatal care for mothers and their babies for up to six weeks following birth. I believe that a significant part of my role as a midwife is to provide relevant, evidence-based information to women and families. I feel that encouraging informed decision making supports women to feel empowered in their pregnancy and birthing experience. I have a strong belief that childbirth is a natural physiological process and will support women who choose to birth at home as well as in Lower Hutt hospital. As I have 3 young children I aim to schedule antenatal appointments in clinic between 9-2pm Tuesdays and Thursdays. I do, however, understand that this does not work for all people and am happy to negotiate other arrangements when necessary. I am also available at all hours for urgent matters.
